
Workplan
The following
is a list of goals to be accomplished over the next two years,
i.e., by June 2002. They are listed not in order of importance
per se, but in the rough chronological order, with the most pressing
tasks listed first.
- Pursue tax-exempt
status
- Assemble Advisory
Committee (See attached)
- Begin process
of surveying primary, secondary and college level educational
materials. Tasks to be undertaken:
1) Determine what texts are commonly used;
2) Survey texts/Identify Problematic Passages;
3) Identify omissions concerning Indic contributions
to world civilizations;
4) Develop working relationship with publishers
5) Begin process of undertaking public opinion research.
Hire a nationally recognized polling organization to investigate
how various segments of the American population view Indic traditions
and to explore how they developed such views. Segments
to be polled include:
1) Teachers
2) College Students,
3) Adults of different demographic
segments and different religious affiliation
4) Media Professionals/Journalists,
5) Employers/Business Leaders
- Develop Website
- Assemble Committee of Community Leaders
- Develop Position
Papers concerning Issues in Indic Education. Topics to
be covered:
1) Contributions of Indic Traditions to World Civilization, especially
those commonly unacknowledged
2) Stereotypes and misrepresentations
- Media Outreach.
Develop a media press kit downloadable from website, with updates
for relevant current events
